Freeing Yourself from the Future (Letting Go of Procrastination)
take your “to-do list” again
make small independent slips of paper
write columns: now / later / never
shuffle the slips so as not to give more importance to one than another
draw the slips in turn and place them either in the “now” column or in the “never” column.
the “later” column is there psychologically. it’s choosing to put nothing in it that will create the click.
seeing the “later” box with nothing you can put in it lets you see that it doesn’t really exist, that it’s an illusion. it illustrates procrastination and makes you realize that “later” is an illusion we use to avoid saying “now”, out of desire for comfort.
procrastinating is an illusion within the illusion. it is therefore declaring that we largely believe in the illusion, and that is why it is necessary tostop procrastinating if we want to get out of the illusion and everything attached to it.
the obligations you’ve created for yourself will not disappear by keeping them in a closet that you’ll open in the future. Why? Because what you believe is a closet you’ll open in the future is actually a closet that clutters you in the present moment.
you have the power to change now, so why change later?
“later” doesn’t exist
by the way, watch this video again later and you’ll see that “later” doesn’t actually exist
what matters is what you are NOW
procrastinating is writing a list of things to do to reassure yourself by believing you’ve made a decision, whereas in fact nothing has changed.
when you start allowing yourself to believe that time doesn’t exist, you start to see that procrastinating isn’t setting aside, but going around in circles.
